Paperee's First Crafty Secrets Challenge

Paperie Challenge (Small) This card was for Paperee's Crafty Secrets Group 1st challenge WLCS062009.  Julie came up with the challenge..."CONTRASTING COLORS!  Pick your favorite color and then use it's complement--red/green, blue/orange, purple/yellow, etc.  Also feel free to use any shade in between."

I really like this image but unfortunately I tried to find a link to it but couldn't find it on Crafty Secrets website, so maybe it's retired.  I hope not, because there are some really cute images on this Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Homespun Cotton Scraps.  I sewed the image on with my trusty sewing machine, which is always fun.  The red and green papers used are both from the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Radiant paper pad.  A Nesties pinking circle was used on the red patterned paper and a Nesties mega rectangle was used on the sentiment.  The cookie cutters and sentiment are from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Sweet Stuff set.  I stamped them with VersaFine Vintage Sepia and colored them with my Copics.  I cut each one out and mounted it on a dimensional.

I would never have used red and green for anything but Christmas but this came out cute and is definitely not a Christmas card.  The challenge was great for me as it got me out of a rut.  Thanks Julie!

Crafty Secret Challenges

CSSC73 All About Me (Small)This card was for the CSSC74 _ "It's ALL About ME" challenge.  This image describes me to a tee!  I love animals and this little girl is serving tea to her kitty and doggy.  I love all animals!  DH and I are sponsors of animals at both Best Friends and Northeast Animal Shelter.  We sponsor dogs since we can't have dogs in the condo complex we live in.  Instead we have six kitties!

The image is from the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Childhood Images and Journal booklet.  I mounted it on a scrap piece of patterned paper and then went around the outside with my pinking shears.  I popped it up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Home Sweet Home set.  It is two different sentiments that I combined into one.  I added a row of tiny pink rhinestones from A Muse.  The background paper is from Crafty Secrets Radiant Paper pad.  The card base is a Memory Box Mocha card that I purchased here.

PCP P Challenge (Small)This card was made for the Crafty Secrets challenge over at the Paper Craft Planet.  Darlene's challenge was to use things on our card that started with a "P".  My "P's" are Post card, Paris and pink.  I know I was really stretching it! LOL  The image is from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Girl Friend Homespun Cotton Scraps.  All of the images on that sheet of cotton are in pink and black and so cute!  I mounted the cotton scrap on a scrap piece of CS paper.  The background paper is from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Classic Paper pad.  The sentiments are from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Journey set and stamped with Palette Hybrid Starry Night ink.  I picked out a bunch of Sweet Blush buttons from PTI and sewed them on the background paper...this way they are not going anywhere.

Having another rainy day today!  At least the kids won't have to water the garden for a while!

Crafty Secrets DT Challenge

CS DT Birthday Challenge (Small)The Crafty Secrets Design Team is doing a birthday challenge today and I'm late, late, late!!!  I had my card done but just couldn't get a picture of it!  We were to make anything we wanted that dealt with birthday's...cards, banners, hats or anything else we wanted to do that fit with the challenge.  I decided to do a birthday card, which I will be giving to a very good friend that I have known for years. The card is 6" square and definitely will be hand delivered because of all the embellishments.  I would hate for it to get destroyed in the mail.   The image is from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Glamour Girls set and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is two different stamps from the same set.  I made a mask to cover the entire card with the oval cut out and then used my Copic air gun to color in the oval.  I mounted the image and sentiment on a dark teal cardstock.  The background paper is from Basic Grey Two Scoops.  The lace edge on the side is made with the Spellbinders Classic Lace Border also from Basic Grey Two Scoops paper.  I distressed it a little with a sanding block.  It is one of their 12" long Borderabilities dies and makes a very pretty CS DT Birthday Challenge Flower Soft (Small) border.  I added pearls on the border.  The corner punch is one I had from SU.  All of the flowers have Flower Soft in Sweet Pea on them.  You can click on this picture to see the Flower Soft up better.  The satin flower with the pearl center I purchased from a lady in Germany.

You need to stop by each member of the Design Team to see their gorgeous projects!  I know they will be beautiful!!!

"24" and CSSC71 Card Challenge

CSSC71 Out of Context (Small)This week's challenge over at the Splitcoast Stampers Crafty Secrets forum was to use text on your project.  I used a page I tore out of our phone book as the text.  The image is from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Creative Scraps Girlfriend sheet.  I even made my flowers out of the phone book sheet and a SU! flower punch.  I layered several together and then attached them with a brad.  The background paper is Memory Box.  The sentiment Hello is from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Mini Memories set.  I went around the edge of my cranberry mount with my MS antique gold glitter and then popped it up on dimensionals.  This was a great challenge and I had fun with it.

You probably wonder why my title says "24"??  My DS introduced me to Jack Bauer and "24".  I have never seen it and had no desire to because I have never liked Keifer Sutherland, but DS brought over Season 1 and Season 2 DVD sets and now I'm hooked.  I love it!  My hubby and I usually go through 3 espisodes a night and have finished Season 1 and started Season 2 last night.  They haver just finished Season 7, so we'll be watching it for a while.  LOL  How many of you are "24" fans?  I am also a CSI: Miami, Burn Notice, House and Life fan.  I am not into any of the reality shows or American Idol or Dancing with the Stars.  I think I watch enough TV.  I have it on most of the time but just for the noise.  If I want to read, I have to have it off but for creating, it's fine.

Serenity Prayer

CS Serenity Prayer (Small) Sometimes you don't need a lot of embellishments when you have a nice piece of paper.  The paper I stamped the Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Serenity Prayer on and the background paper are both from the same paper pad by K&Company from Michaels.  Serenity Prayer paper (Small)I used a flower from Bo Bunny that I've had quite a while and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist in Pearl to lighten it and give it a sparkle.  I cut the prayer out and the gray cardstock I mounted it on with Nestabilities Labels 1 and both are mounted on dimensionals.

This stamp reminded me of my mother.  When I was a little girl (a lonnnng time ago), my mother had a desk with a sheet of glass on the top to protect the surface.  She had this prayer under the glass along with other sayings that she considered thought provoking enough to look at while she sat at her desk.  I really like how this turned out.

It was a nice rainy day today and good for the gardens.  I hope to hear soon that the things we planted on Saturday are up.

Wanna Play??

CS Wanna Play (Small)I love this little "Campbell Soup" kid...so cute.  This image is from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Image & Journal Notes booklet.  I cut each of the images out and mounted the little kid and the ball up on dimensionals.  The background papers are from the CSHV Earthy and Classic paper pads.  I added a satin ribbon between the two papers.  I stamped "HI" using Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Top Hat Alphabet using VersaFine Vintage Sepia.  I cut it out using the heart Nestabilities and left the frame on.  I distressed the inside edges and then mounted it on dimensionals.  I used the journal portion of the sheet on the inside and mounted the little bear's shirt up on dimensionals.

I think I might just give this card to my hubby!!

June and July

CS Creative Scraps June (Small) Well, I was on a roll so decided to work on June's calendar.  I used another sheet of the Memory Box Brandywine paper collection.  I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and then used a sanding block on the outside edge.  I used one of the images along with the June calendar from the Crafty Secrets Heart Warming Vintage Creative Scraps Seasonal Calendar sheet.  I mounted it on a piece of sheet music also distressed.  I cut the image of the little girl from a children's book.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and I set 3 rhinestones down the middle.

I used a length of saddle stitched ribbon and placed it through the hole in the center of the CD and then mounted the paper over it.  I slid a button with a shank down the ribbon but did not attach it to anything because I wanted it to turn to the other side.  I did the July calendar on the other side of this CD.

CS Creative Scraps Calendar July (Small)

See what I mean about the button being able to turn around?  Again I used a sheet from the Memory Box Brandywine paper collection.  I distressed it just as I did the June side.  I torn the America the Beautiful music out of a children's book and distressed it.  The calendar and the image is from the CSHV Creative Scraps Seasonal Calendar sheet.  I typed up the "Vacation Time" on the computer, distressed and mounted it on the image.  I added lots of buttons and it's done.

These were fun to do and I'll finish up the rest of the year but maybe not just now.

CD Transformation

CS Creative Scraps calendar (Small)

Several years ago, I saw some beautiful Christmas ornaments made out of CD's over at Peas in a Bucket.  I have been saving CD's I get in the mail ever since.  I decided to use one to make a calendar to hang by my computer.  I always need a calendar for something but there isn't a lot of room for a big calendar.  I used a sheet from the Memory Box Brandywine paper collection.  I just glued it on the CD with Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue and it worked great.  I used the May calendar from the Crafty Secrets Heart Warming Vintage Creative Scraps Seasonal Calendar sheet.  There are cute pictures to go along with each month but I decided not to use one...bad girl.  I, instead, stamped this image from the CSHV Clear Arts Stamps Garden Girls set, colored her with Copics, masked her and airbrushed the background, and then cut it out using the circle Nestabilities.  I put 3 different Prima flowers together with a pearl brad center and mounted it with a large double sided sticky circle.  That little piece of trim was left over from a previous card.  Added a button with linen thread through it and tied in a bow in the back.  It also is mounted with a large double sided sticky circle.  I distressed the edges with my sanding block and mounted several torn pieces of French text on the back to cover the CD.  Last, but not least, I used a Japanese screw punch to get the hole in the top for my brown seam binding.  It took several tries but it eventually cut through the CD.  All in all, I like it.  I think I'd better get started on June since May is almost gone now.

I went over to my DDIL's Saturday and helped her plant her garden.  It was fun, but I spent yesterday whining about how much I hurt.  I enjoyed the day in the sun and even got a little sun burned but not bad enough to peel, I hope.  The weather here has been warm and sunny, so hopefully things will come up fast besides the weeds. LOL  I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.

Sorry, I don't have anything to show you today.  I had to do some much needed purging of our household files and checkbook balancing.

I did have my hubby draw a winner for the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Creative Scraps Travel sheet.  Drum roll please; and the winner is:  Julie K  Congratulations Julie, please let me know your address and I'll get it in the mail to you.

I'll try and get something done tonight, so I can post it tomorrow.

Kitchen Friends

CS Creative Scraps Kitchen (Small) Don't you connect with the sentiment?  I sure do!  This is another image from the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Creative Scraps Girlfriend sheet.  The background papers are from the Memory Box Sweet Bay paper collection and the piece on the left is a leftover piece from yesterday's card (Memory Box Brandywine).  The colors were perfect with the Sweet Bay paper I used.  I took that applique and  sprayed it with Glimmermist Vanilla Breeze since it was pure white.  It gave it that nice vintage look.  There is a strip of cranberry grossgrain separating the two pieces of Sweet Bay papers and again I sewed my buttons on the card before I mounted it on the base.  The main image is popped up on dimensionals since it is mounted on top of the applique.  These images make for the cutest cards with the least amount of work.

Its nice and sunny today but we have a frost / freeze warning for tonight.  I have several plants waiting patiently to go out on the screened in porch.  I keep hoping that I can get them out there as they need the warm sun; and I don't feel like taking them out in the day and bringing them back in at night.  Bad gardener, I know.  Have a great week everyone!

Remember the drawing for my giveaway is this Wednesday so you still have time to enter here.
